This week I decided that I wanted to buy new tennis shoes. If you haven't been shoe shopping in awhile, there are some crazy colors and styles out there that's for sure. And it has been some time since I bought myself some shoes because let's face it, once you have kids they consume all of your time, money, energy, money, patience and money. So in between buying Thing 1 and Thing 2 new shoes and clothes and whatever else comes up, I forgot about myself. So this is my mission to buy new shoes.
My issue is that shoes now are either too flashy, too colorful, too crazy or too expensive. (I can no longer justify spending more than $50 on shoes for myself.) Or the shoes just didn't fit which is why this post is titled Big Foot's Curse. See I graduated high school a size 8 1/2. After Paige was born I think I went up to a 9, sometimes 9 1/2 and sometimes wide depending on the style of shoe. Then after Chase, I permanently settled in at a 9 1/2 -10 and usually wide. As if wrecking my belly wasn't enough those kids had to stretch my feet. I always was happy with my shoe size because at 5' 8.5" tall a shoe size of 8 1/2 really is pretty small (in my opinion). Now I feel like I have small tug boats for feet and certain shoes make those small tug boats look like barges. Needless to say I don't like shopping for shoes.
A few days ago I began my quest for new shoes. I spent about 45 minutes in Rack Room Shoes with no success. I walked up and down every aisle so many times I think th

e sales clerk thought I was casing the place to steal something. Then I went to Dick's and found a really nice pair of Under Armour shoes, on sale and not too crazy flashy. I loved them but the problem was that I needed a half size bigger and Dick's didn't have it. Big Foot's Curse strikes again! Tonight I just spent over an hour at the mall (with family in tow) and didn't find my perfect pair of shoes. So over the next couple days I will check the surrounding Dick's stores to see if they have the shoes I like in Big Foot's size.
